Web Site, Facebook Page, and Email Address
The web site is maintained using Weebly at www.weebly.com . The login ID/password is [email protected]/Olc1972$. It is an easy-to-use tool, the Weebly web site contains videos on how to use it. To keep it simple, it's best to use just things like Title, Text, and Images along with links for individual entities. As many as possible of the club documents are kept as links from the Members Page of the web site. When club or BOD membership changes, the OLC Secretary will update the necessary documents and send the web master the latest version. This includes the roster, club email list, BOD email list, and current BOD membership. The web master should upload each document and change the links on the Members page. If a member is added or dropped, the web master must also update the Club Members web page. The Secretary will also send the web master the latest approved Minutes. They should be added as the first entry of the Minutes page. There are two charges for the maintenance of the web site. Weebly charges about $120/year for hosting the web site. There is an additional charge of about $40/year for the registration of the site name, www.olneylionsmd.org These must be charged to someone's credit card, either the web master's or someone else's supplied by the club. Note that the club does not have a "club credit card." The homepage and Olney Open pages need to be changed for the annual tournament. Change the Home Page to have a landing page that points to the silent auction. Replace the Olney Open page with one that gives details of this year's tournament and contains links to download the sponsor and participant forms (the tournament director will send these to you). You can use the previous years saved page and just modify that with the current year's info and save it as the new tournament page. Following the last paragraph, add a list of this year's sponsors, the tournament director will send that list to you. When the tournament and silent auction are over, get rid of the landing page on the Home Page, and put the saved tournament page back (you do this by checking the "hide in navigation" box in this years page and uncheck it in the original) and copy the list of sponsors to the end of it.
The purpose of the web site is two-fold: It provides a public interface to the club, allowing the public to see what the OLC is about and contact us vie e-mail. Additionally, the Members page, which is password protected (olc1972), contains information and documents about the club and members. This includes the latest version of the roster, club and directors email lists, minutes of board meetings, etc. The latest official version of all club related documents should be kept as a link from the Members page (e.g. membership form by-laws). The Members page also contains documents describing the duties of the President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Facebook Page -- The Olney Lions page is an organizational page, the current FB editor must designate another FB user as editor if the responsibility shifts. It is used to keep members and others apprised of current activities. Try to include photos with each posting. An account has been set up to administer the page, Olcmanage/olc1972
Email -- The email address for the club is [email protected]. This Gmail account is set up with a forwarding address of the club's Secretary. If that changes someone must logon to Gmail with the above address (password Olc1972$) and change the forwarding address to that of the new Secretary.
